John Denver Show Opens to Brilliant Review

September 24 2008

Renowned Dunedin journalist Dene MacKenzie has given a glowing review to the premier of Whisper the Wind The Music & Life of John Denver, showing Whangarei audiences just what they are in for on Sunday 12 October.

“It would be a surprise if there were not more than a few moist eyes among audience members in the Regent Theatre on Saturday night as they listened to the evocative music of the late John Denver.” MacKenzie said.

Dunedin actor 21 year old Bevan Gardiner stood out in particular.

“The partially-sighted Gardiner cast his particular spell over the appreciative audience as they sat back and let the warmth of this young man’s voice wash over them.”

However, Mackenzie was blown away by both performers in the show and explained that they complemented each other and accurately took the audience through the highs and lows of Denver’s career with the aide of footage of Denver and his family.

“Gardiner and Rich used the songs and words of the singer to great effect, letting the audience feel the happiness and pain as they provided a chronicle of the good times and the sad.”

If this is anything to go by, Denver fans are in for a spectacular treat, so don’t delay get your tickets now.

Sunday 12 October, 8pm
